SUMMARY:EMBO Workshop - Cellular signalling and cancer therapy
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is the third in a series of EMBO meetings and represents the continuation of the signal transduction Dubrovnik meetings which started in 1998 and held every two years in the same venue\, the beautiful Hotel Croatia in Cavtat\, close to the town of Dubrovnik. In 2018 we will celebrate the 20th anniversary of this meeting\, which has meanwhile grown into one of the most prestigious conferences on signal transduction with up to 300 participants from all over the world. \nThe focus of this EMBO Workshop will be on the challenges that cancer evolution and the complex tumor-stroma interactions pose to modern cancer treatments. \nThe program contains the following main subjects: \n\nSignaling mechanisms in cancer\nGenomic integrity and cancer\nCancer stem cells\nTumor-stroma interactions\nCancer evolution and tumor heterogeneity\nCancer therapy\n\nMETA-CAN collaborates in this workshop as part of our ESRs’ scientific training. \n  \nOrganized by Maria Sibilia\, MUW\, Austria

SUMMARY:1st Oncobell symposium - Mechanisms of Cancer and New Therapeutic Strategies
DESCRIPTION:The goal of this first symposium is to officially introduce the Oncobell program from IDIBELL and their research\, and to bring together bright minds at the forefronts of cancer research and its application in the clinic.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn addition\, in the context of the meeting they will also have a patients’ session where they will inform general public and oncology patients of their translational and clinical assets at the Bellvitge campus.\n\n  \nAbout ONCOBELL \nOncobell is a joint research program focused on molecular mechanisms and experimental therapies in cancer. It is a new program within the IDIBELL with the aim to fight cancer in a collective and multidisciplinary way. It includes an array of groups that cover the stages from basic frontier research all the way to clinical treatments of the patients. \nThe common nominator of the program is that all groups work on improving patients’ outcomes through either a molecular/pathway oriented approach or through a disease and clinical needs oriented approach.  We believe that increasing the communication between groups linking these two approaches will lead to better ideas and shortcuts in the transition between lab results into the clinics. \nContact: oncobellsymposium@idibell.cat
